Autonomous car
Our engineers have developed, for a major leading semiconductor vendor, a 1/5th demonstration car model. Using a small camera this vehicle films the road ahead and constantly extracts the varying position of the white road markings. It then controls the car's servo motors to obtain an ideal trajectory on the road.
This application provides speed and trajectory information via a FlexRay network.
This computationally intensive application has been developed to demonstrate the capability and real-time performance of ATMEL's 32-bit microcontrollers.
To support the vehicle and to make the demo « eye-catchingly dynamic », it runs constantly on an endless conveyor belt. Everything has been sized to be used in reduced areas like exhibition booths and table-top shows. Both the car and the conveyor belt have built-in security systems to prevent accidental injuries.
